What is Anmeldung?

Anmeldung (literally "registration") is Germany's mandatory address registration system. You must register your address at the local Einwohnermeldeamt (residents' registration office) within 14 days of moving in. It's compulsory for everyone living in Germany — citizens and foreigners alike.
