Non-Domicile (Non-dom) Tax Status

The non-dom tax regime is one of the UK's most attractive features for wealthy expats. If you're not domiciled in the UK, you can benefit from significant tax advantages:

  • Exemption on foreign income (only pay tax on UK-sourced income)
  • Available for 15 years maximum for UK residents
  • From April 2024: £60,000 fee for years 7-15 (or £30,000 for years 10-15)
  • Must be non-resident in UK for 3 of last 4 tax years to claim

Standard UK Income Tax

Non-non-dom residents and UK-domiciled individuals pay UK income tax on worldwide income:

  • Personal allowance: £0-£12,570 (0%)
  • Basic rate: £12,571-£50,270 (20%)
  • Higher rate: £50,271-£125,140 (40%)
  • Additional rate: £125,140+ (45%)
  • National Insurance: 8% (employees), 10-15% (self-employed)
